Welcome to the Spring Qigong Series!
This is part 1 of a 6 part series. In this lesson, you will learn the In this lesson you will learn the opening of the Spring Qigong Series as well as the first movement.
PART 1:
We begin by settling the mind and body with deep breathing focused on the Dan Tian (the area just below the navel). We will focus the attention strictly on this breathing for one minute so as to clear the mind and prepare ourselves for the lesson.
PART 2:
Next, we will begin the practice itself. In the first movement, we begin by taking a breath in and feeling the qi enter the body and sinking down the Dan Tian.
When we breathe in, the arms with rise upwards. When we breathe out, the arms will circle back towards our Dan Tian and help gather in the clean, spring qi into our Dan Tian. Take a moment to let the qi settle in your Dan Tian before repeating the movement.
PART 3:
Next, we circle the arms outwards and have them meet in front of us as we breathe in. Here, the fingers will then cross together and as we return the arms back towards us, use a bit of strength in order to pull the arms in opposite directions; at the same time, breathe out.. You should feel the chest and back open up to allow qi to circulate more freely.
