Summer Qigong Lesson 4
3m 2s
This is part 4 of the 6 part Summer Qi Gong Series.
In this lesson, you will learn a movement that helps to bilaterally spread Yang Qi upwards to the extremities and to the crown of the head. Because Yang energy rises upwards, by practicing this Qigong we can help energize the body and in particular to bring Yang Qi to the head where it vitalizes the mind and makes our sense stronger and more alert.
1) Begin by settling the mind, body, and qi and relaxing the whole body.
2) Take a breath in and circle the arms up.
3) Circle the arms back down and breathe out.
4) Take a breathe in. In an arc shape, let the arms dip down, and then arc upwards as you let the body also dip forward. You will then have the arms reaching forwards and upwards until both arms are above your head. Take a moment to hold the arms aloft. After a moment, allow the arms to gently lower and settle back down over your legs as you breathe out.
Take note: As you left your arms, your gaze will follow your hands all the way until they are above your head. Once they are positioned above, slowly let your head return to gazing forward in a neutral position. Make sure that as you perform the motion, you feel the entire trunk, not just the arms, perform the arcing motion.
5) Continue following along with Master Zhou.
6) We finish this lesson by breathing in and circling our arms upwards. Then, take a breath out as we circle the arms back down and settle them to our Dan Tian.
