Summer Qigong Lesson 2
3m 18s
This is part 2 of the 6 part Summer Qigong Series. This lesson teaches the second movement of the series.
In this lesson, we will hold the arms aloft one at a time in order to spread the Qi throughout our trunk in order to strengthen and bolster the functions of the internal organs.
1) Take a moment to relax and focus on your breathing. Let all tension leave the body before proceeding with your practice. Take a few breaths in and out whilst paying attention to the tension of your body with each breath in order to discover where you have not been able to relax and let Qi circulate.
2) Next, breathe in and circle the arms up. Breathe out as the arms circle back to the lap.
3) Take a breath in. Raise the Right Arm upwards with the palm facing up. As the hand passes by your shoulder, breathe out, and rotate your palm so that it will roll forward and then upwards. Finish by lifting your head so that your gaze settles on the back on your right hand.
At the same time, place your left palm onto your left leg.
4) Take a moment to do the following:
Press your left hand downwards into your left.
Press your right hand upwards towards the sky.
You should feel the two halves of your body stretch in the opposite directions (Right Side: upwards. Left Side: downwards) so that you get a feeling of "openness" in both sides of the trunk.
5) Let the Right Arm relax and settle back into the lap. At the same time relax the Left Hand and let it meet the Right Hand in the lap.
6) Repeat the motion on the opposite side now.
7) We complete this lesson letting the arms first drape over the legs. We then take a breath in as we circle the arms up, and then breathe out as the arms circle back down and drape over the legs once more.
